A Day Out at the Wym Trails Wymondham

Wymondham is steeped in history, from one of the most famous rebellions in the region, to the Great Fire in 1615 and where the Stanfield Murders took place. But, how and where do you go to fully immerse yourself in the market town’s rich heritage, a day out at the Wym Trails Wymondham, of course.

Download the trail

To start your day out at the Wym Trails, Wymondham you will need to download the app which is free and comes with two different interactive experiences. One is for adults and the other features Henry the Hare for children. You can also borrow a virtual reality headset from the local museums.

The children’s app will feature Henry the Go Go Hare and they will need to find his lost items.

Reality

This isn’t your traditional Norfolk Heritage walking trail. This is a trail and app that is designed to merge real and virtual worlds to give you a truly unique interactive experience on your day out at the Wym Trails Wymondham.

Using 360 degree imaging, audio, narrative and virtual reality you will be transported back in time to the key points of Wymondham’s history as you walk through the town and experience it as though you were actually there. The Wym Trails, Wymondham is truly magical!

You will actually ‘walk through time’ via the pre-set walking tour app and be transported back in medieval times to see the hangings, the fire, the Great Rebellion and the grisly murders.

Walking

The trail is around 2km long and takes around an hour and 20 minutes to complete and is suitable for all ages of the family.

You will start off at the iconic Market Cross, to being your trail and you will go in a figure of eight around the town on your day out at the Wym Trails, Wymondham.

You can also experience other virtual reality experiences at Wymondham Heritage Museum and Wymondham Leisure Centre.

Food and Drink

Once you have completed the trail, after travelling back in time you are likely to be a bit peckish! The app also contains suggested places to eat and drink around the town. The town is home to some great local eateries.

This really is a truly unique day out and one that you will remember for a very long time to come. It is not like you can say most days you took part in a AR Heritage walking trail in Norfolk featuring a giant hare is it?
