Webinar I October 13 @ 2:30pm CT

How Chicago's Department of Public Health Put Data into Action to Improve Communities, Advance Equity

Featuring Megan Cunningham, Managing Deputy Commissioner and Nik Prachand, Director of Epidemiology at CDPH

Understanding the ties between ZIP Code and health is critical to the work of public health officials. Yet, it can be challenging, if not impossible, to identify specific needs and measure progress because data is too siloed or difficult to share. That’s why the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) has focused on making data accessible, understandable and sharable via the Chicago Health Atlas.

Their goal, similar to many across the country, is to increase the ability of community stakeholders to access and use data to identify disparities unique to their neighborhoods and create meaningful interventions.

CDPH’s learnings and successes represent both the present and future of public health. Their story, part of the city’s larger community improvement plan, provides a roadmap of what’s possible with better access to better data. With the Health Atlas, CDPH safely shares their own data and incorporates hundreds of other curated government datasets.
